How to Play Live Baccarat: Rules, Payouts and House Edge
This guide explains how to play live baccarat in general terms. The rules, payouts and house edge below are standard baccarat knowledge. They are not rules or limits set by Bila2Cuci, and Bila2Cuci does not publish table limits or side bets in the information used for this guide, so we do not mention any. It is written for players aged 21 and above.
Baccarat Rules in One Minute
In baccarat you bet on Player, Banker or Tie. The hand closest to 9 wins, and tens and picture cards count as zero. That is all you need to understand to follow a round: you choose one of three outcomes, the hands are dealt, and the closest hand to 9 wins.
Because the three bets are the only decisions you make, baccarat is easy to learn, but easy does not mean favourable. Each bet has a house edge, and over many rounds the house edge works against you. Treat baccarat as paid entertainment and not as a way to make money.
| Bet | What you are betting on |
|---|---|
| Player | The Player hand ends closer to 9 |
| Banker | The Banker hand ends closer to 9 |
| Tie | Both hands finish level |
A live baccarat table is the same game with a real dealer on video. The rules do not change because the table is live. What does change is the pace, which can feel quicker than you expect. Decide your stake before you sit down so that the pace does not decide it for you.
If you are learning how to play live baccarat for the first time, a good method is to watch several rounds before you stake anything. Count how each hand totals, how the hand closest to 9 wins, and how a tie looks when it appears. Watching costs nothing and shows you the pace of the game. When you do start, begin with the smallest stake you are comfortable with and keep it the same for the session.
Payouts
In standard baccarat a Player bet pays 1:1, a Banker bet pays 1:1 minus a 5% commission, and a Tie usually pays 8:1. The commission is the reason that the Banker bet does not pay the full 1:1. These are general figures for standard baccarat. A particular table can differ, so check the rules shown on the table you play.
A 1:1 payout means that a winning bet returns your stake plus an equal amount. So if you win a Player bet, you receive your stake back and a profit equal to the stake. The Tie pays more because it happens less often, and that is where the biggest house edge sits, as the next section shows.
| Bet | Standard payout |
|---|---|
| Player | 1:1 |
| Banker | 1:1 minus a 5% commission |
| Tie | Usually 8:1 |
To see why the commission matters, imagine a winning Banker bet. It does not return a full profit equal to the stake, because the 5% commission is taken from the win. That small reduction is how the game balances the fact that the Banker hand has a slight advantage in the cards. It is also why the Banker bet still has a house edge, even though it is the lowest of the three.
House Edge by Bet
With 8 decks the house edge is about 1.06% on Banker, 1.24% on Player and about 14.4% on Tie at 8:1. In other words, the Banker bet has the lowest house edge of the three, the Player bet is slightly higher, and the Tie bet is far higher than both.
The house edge is the long-run average share of your stakes that the house keeps. It does not mean that you lose that share in each session. It means that over a very large number of rounds, a bet with a higher edge costs you more. That is why many guides suggest staying away from the Tie bet, even though its payout looks attractive.
| Bet | House edge with 8 decks |
|---|---|
| Banker | About 1.06% |
| Player | About 1.24% |
| Tie (at 8:1) | About 14.4% |
Do not read these figures as a system. No pattern of bets can overcome a house edge, and a streak of Banker or Player results does not make the next result more likely. Each round is a new deal.
A practical way to use these numbers is to compare them with how you want to play. If you want the lowest cost per round, the Banker bet has the lowest edge in the list. If you prefer the Player bet because the payout is a clean 1:1, the cost is slightly higher, and that is a choice you are free to make. What you should avoid is choosing a bet only because of its payout, since the Tie shows how misleading the payout alone can be.
Where to Play Live
Bila2Cuci has a Live Game category for live dealer tables, shown with a roulette table. The other categories are Slot Game, JILI Event Game, Jackpot Game, Hot Game Playtech, Fast Game, Sportsbook and Other Games. We do not describe the baccarat tables themselves, because the published information does not. New members can register first and then open the Live Game category from the lobby.
Bila2Cuci also offers an app download for Android (APK file) and for iOS, with a download tutorial. If you want to play from your phone, use the official tutorial and download only from the official link. Keep in mind that being able to play at any time is not a reason to play more often.
Before you play, check the table’s own information for its rules and limits, and check that it matches what you expect. If it differs from the standard figures in this guide, the table’s information is the one that applies to you.
Bankroll Habits
Common responsible gambling habits are to set a deposit and time limit before playing, never chase losses, take breaks, and never borrow to gamble. Baccarat can be fast, so these habits matter. After a loss, resist the urge to raise the next stake, because that is the beginning of chasing.
The promotion table lists a 2 Days Win and Lose Rebate of 6%, with no turnover and no rollover. Ask live chat which games count toward it before you plan a baccarat session around it. For every promotion other than the 2 Days Rebate and the No Turnover bonuses, turnover and eligible games are set in its own terms.
- Set a budget for the session before the first hand.
- Decide a time limit and a stop-loss, and keep them.
- Prefer the bets with the lower house edge, and understand that none of them is free.
- Stop when you feel tired, upset or tempted to chase.
Finally, remember that baccarat is a game of chance. Nothing in this guide, including the rules and the house edge, changes the fact that you can lose the money you stake. Play only with money that you can afford to lose, keep to the limits that you set before you began, and stop when the session is over.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a 5% commission on Banker?
In standard baccarat a Banker bet pays 1:1 minus a 5% commission. The commission is how the Banker bet is adjusted, and with 8 decks the house edge on Banker is about 1.06%, which is lower than Player at about 1.24%.
Is the Tie bet good value?
Not by the numbers. With 8 decks the house edge on Tie is about 14.4% at 8:1, far above Banker and Player. The larger payout does not make up for how rarely a Tie happens.
